Recent Reading, AKA Words on "Wednesday," a day late

Some of my Recent Reading

In the photo, but no particular order:
A Longtime Favorite
  • Lots of  Agatha Christies
  • some of Dorothy Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey tales
  • an early 20th century art book
  • a Francine Rivers novel (The Priest, which i'm reading with Max)
  • Finding Jesus in the Old Testament (other editions are titled The Emmaus Code)
  • several of Dr. McGee's booklets, shown:
    • How to Have Peace in Anxious Times
    • The Tabernacle: God's Portrait of Christ
    • The Gospel in the Gates of Jerusalem
    • When God Flexes His Muscles
    • The Loveliness of Jesus (an exploration of one of the Levitical sacrifices)
A Popular Title, in Variations*:
  • Doyle's Sherlock Holmes story, abut a British football (rugby) player
  • a story in Sherlock Holmes in America, a collection of Holmes stories by other authors: about an American football player
  • on top, my new Agatha Christie/Sophie Hannah Poirot story, which uses a slice of cake for the title reference
  • and, not pictured, anyone else remember a similarly-titled story, which references coins on a table?
i did enjoy the new book very much.  It required a beloved character for the title person, since the mystery is introduced to us by letters supposedly signed by Poirot.
A bonus, two characters, although having different names, seem to me very like the married couple Emily Trefusis and her fiance would have become after the wedding. Not as satisfying as actually meeting them again, but definitely fun.

* Weird thing: i checked this today and discovered the last two photos were gone! They'd been replaced by big ovals with a dash in the middle.  MyGuy and i looked at the photos, and thought maybe Google found this in violation of copyright. We don't see why, though i did change the second photo to hide the story (NOT all the story, one page out of about 20.)
