Wordless Wednesday: Compare

From our 2008, 9day wonder, trip to Hawaii.  The right image is a photo of Ka'paa in Kohala, while the left is a picture i did in art class in watercolor pencil.  Looking at them this week, it seems that i have too much emphasis on the foreground in the colored pencil one.  What do you think?

Wordless Wednesday: Art from a Photo

The photo is from the 2008 trip MyGuy and i took to Hawaii.  The view is from the shelter on Spencer bBach north of Kona on the Big Island.

Not everyone's an escapist. . . .

Here in Indiana this week, things look kinda like the first picture, except way colder than when i took it, back in January 2013.
After our session, Ms Tutor and i were joking about being tired of the cold.  We said,

Wordless Wednesday: i've looked at clouds from both sides now, or, illustrations for our Cloud homework

Approaching Honolulu: Cumulus?  Fractals?  Definitely a dirty airplane window!
Max and i looked at clouds tonight & how they're named.
The homework wasn't much of a success, but here's an excuse to look at my Hawaii photos.
Links we used are below.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

This was a lot of fun to work out so i could record places we really wanted to go, spent time planning to visit, but just ran out of time.
the handwriting says, "to be revealed next time"

Wordless Wednesday: Playing with the Crop, near Spencer Beach

On Spencer Beach, i took a lot of photos.  At first glance, this one seemed deleteable.

On the west coast of Hawaii's Big Island, sort of tucked into an "elbow" between Kohala and the Kona district, lies Spencer Beach Park.  The mountain visible in these photos is Hualalai.  It's to the south, where the famous resorts line the coast.

Wordless Wednesday: Scrapbook Page Technique

The 100+page, two volume scrapbook from our 9day trip to Hawaii is way too heavy to lug around, but people sometimes want to see it.  Those who have, want to show off this technique.

Why a NonScientific Person Reads Science Books

When i was in 2nd grade, our science text was a big picture book. Look at the animals!  Look at the trees!  Wow!
i wanted to be a scientist.
  In the 3rd grade,

Wordless Wednesday: That Beach at Kapa'a

Kapa'a simply means "water border.' You find the name in various places throughout the islands.  This one is a county park at the north end of the Big Island.  On a good day you can see Maui in the distance.  i've never been able to figure out if this was one of those days, or if this was even the right position.

Wordless Wednesday: Whittington Wildlife Refuge

at Whittington Beach Park, Big Island, Hawaii
If you get an online map of the park, zoom to a scale of one mile or  less (zoom pretty tight!) you can see that these fish ponds are kinda bivalve shaped, like two attached clamshells.

Wordless Wednesday - On the Edge

  Cliffhanging Over Whittington Beach Park
Big Island, Hawaii
Here, the highway is right by the edge.

The next photos are "down below," by the abandoned pier.
