Resurrection Sunday, 2020

Of course, i've been reading lots lately.  One of the most recent things i've read is a booklet of Dr. J. Vernon McGee's The Tabernacle: God's Portrait of Christ(takes a minute to download, but it's free.)

i find the ideas presented very powerful explanation of Christ and salvation.

You can find many better images of this online, but i wanted to have something here to give you all the idea.
The Bible passages describing the materials and building of the tabernacle are SO dry and boring.  But it's worth going into.  If you agree with the  stance that the Bible is important, and the more times we find something there, the more important that thing is, you simply cannot afford to skip this.
Genesis tells us about creation in a couple chapters.  However, most of Exodus and all of Leviticus are about the tabernacle and its furnishings.
Just a sample of what i've been reading: Dr. McGee shows us the symbolism in the materials of the furniture.
Several items are made of metal covered wood.  Scholars seem to agree that the wood is acacia, or something like.
It is a tough, long-lasting, beautiful wood.
The first altar is made of wood covered with brass, or, maybe it's copper or bronze.  All three have copper in them.  In the Bible, this is related to sin and judgment.
The first article of furniture is the brass altar, where the sacrifice for sin is made.  A foreshadow of the cross.

Likewise the second item is brass over wood, a "laver," a washbasin.

These are in the outer courtyard of the tabernacle. The furniture in the Holy Place, the first part of the smaller tent, consists of a lamp (menorah), an incense altar (prayer), and a table with 12 loaves of bread, symbolizing God's provision for His people..  This part is largely about prayer and intimacy with God.  McGee tells it at much greater length, and better, than i.
In the Holy of Holies, or Most Holy Place, there is only piece of furniture, the Ark of the Covenant. It also is wood, but covered with gold, not brass.
Brass, humanity.  Gold, divinity. Only as God can Jesus make a way for us to come to His Father.

Have a blessed Easter.  He is Risen!
