Visual Aid to help Max in applying for Indiana photo ID |
In the course of applying for Max's waiver services, we learned that the Medicaid papers we filed five or so years ago have disappeared. i may or may not have copies, and they told me it wouldn't matter.
Anyway, since he's graduating in May, the process is moving somewhat quickly. i guess. i turned the initial Medicaid paperwork in last Thursday, and Monday they called me with an appointment for tomorrow.
And bring Max's state issued ID.
He didn't have one.
So that was today's after school event.
i visited the license branch - which had moved - earlier in the day to make sure i had the right paperwork. And i drew this little note to help Max understand that what he's getting is and isn't like what Dad, Boom, and i have, as well as how to do the photo.
After 5 tries, we got a photo - he has a tendency to give a goofy smile, but he was able to avoid that this time.
i was surprised that we only got a copy paper printout of the ID, with the actual one to come in 10 days or so. But they assured me that this was adequate for tomorrow.
Also, the clerks both times told me that i wouldn't need my guardianship papers, though the website and affadavit i needed to sign said otherwise. New experience for those behind the counter too.
Oh, and he had a very stressful day at school, but the license branch experience was no big deal for him. He worked his word search puzzle, and cooperated when asked.
And Max is very pleased with his new not quite standard ID
