Not Quite Wordless Wednesday: Revisiting Ruth

  A few years back, i did a vew Saturday Sister meditations based on my reading of several Ruth novels.

  Then i couldn't figure out what i could say without spoiling the plots of all of them.

  Recently, i came across some illustrations that i made for posts never written, and thought i'd share them anyway.

This one i could not get to scan nicely, so i redid it in Windows Paint.

When i attended a writers' group, Michele shared a lot of great stories with us.  i'm happy to let you know that she's just released a new one, a retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story. Note in her post how hard, and how LONG, it takes to get a story to this point.  i've never stuck with one so long - the "novels" i used to say i was writing are more like synopses, maps to building a story.

  One thing about living with a person with autism is the endless questions.

computer stuff

  MyGuy tells me that what i lost in the crash will probably remain lost.  Which includes medical notes for 5-10 years, as well as all the images and a lot of the text for my Ruth project.  But there's a printout of a lot of it, and all my handwritten notes are still here.
  At least they were until yesterday.  i typed up more at the library, and recycled the pages before leaving.  Hopefully they really are saved onto my flash drive.
  Reminds me of this bit on nonhumorous humor:
      Three things are certain  Death, taxes and lost data. Guess which has occurred.   With searching comes loss      And the presence of absence:     "My Novel" not found. 
  And we have a little progress here.  Tonight MyGuy presented me with a laptop (at one point i knew its provenance), in my usual spot on the computer desk.  He's loaded basics of our accounts*.  i spent most of the last two hours continuing to set up personalize, and catch up with the last two weeks of mail in the trapped account.
  And i am more convinced than before that i really really don't like working on a laptop.  Am i hardcore PC?

* his, mine, and Max's.  There were also his admin account, Boom's (sorry), and one no one seemed to have the hang of, which was for me and MyGuy plus Boom to discuss household maintenance, etc.

Wordless Wednesday: Writing Process

Very Frustrated

  Early this week Blogger stopped allowing me to not count my own pageviews.
  i've seen the articles about how to work around this, but they aren't working for me, and in any case don't offer much hope of going back to the way it was before, though the hotlink to what was the option window is still in the same spot.   It just pops up when i click and does nothing, until prompting me to "Try Again Later."
 This seems to me to be artificially inflating the pageviews.  i use the blogroll to access the blogs i follow, and regularly look at the pages to curate this blog.  (Which means if a post looks different when you return to it, i've seen it on the page then made changes.)
  i'll keep trying, but it looks like i'll have to live with this.

How's your marriage?

Relationship talk is not always fun, but it's something that we need to do occasionally.
Even good marriages can be better, if we identify where it's not perfect.  And the ones that aren't so good, well, you need to do this even more, probably in direct proportion to how hard it is.
Our kids need us together.  This is worth the work.

What Goes into a Saturday Sister Meditation

  In case anyone is interested in how i write these:
  Many of the ones i'd previously written were for a group, and had an element of committee editing.  But none of them seemed suitable, or at least quite what i wanted to offer for Easter.
And no Biblical woman is so associated with Easter as Mary Magdalene.
 She is often thought of as a sinful woman, but, if so, that is not explicitly stated in Scripture.  Wikipedia's article on her places the first mention of her as a harlot about 500 years after Jesus.
  What Scripture does tell us is that He cast 7 demons cast out of her.
  i was reminded of another place where 7 demons were mentioned, and went searching for it.  The passage tells of 1 demon cast out.  He found no place to rest, and, like the prodigal, thought to return.
  The demon in this parable found "home" clean & empty, as good as a welcome. Instead of simply returning, he brought 7 other more wicked than himself to move in.
  Which was all fascinating.  Could Mary have gotten in this state because  she had previously had one demon, someone else had cast it out, but her cleaned-up life had no new passion?

  Like i said, all very fascinating, but not where i wanted to go.
  The Saturday Sisters series is not about discussing theology or  demonology.  i might have the genesis of some sort of fiction here, but the numbers don't add up.
  Biblical fiction must not contradict Scripture or what is known about life in Bible times.

  So, what is message of Mary Magdalene?
  You may well get as many answers as you have people writing about her.
  It's fashionable to write about her as Apostle to the Apostles.  There's a body of work about her as Jesus' wife and appointed leader after Him.  (no comment here on that - you can read me elsewhere to see my opinion.)
  i like Liz Curtis Higgs' novel Mad Mary, bearing in mind that it is fiction.

  But back to the question, i had to find MY message to you about Mary Magdalene.

  And that is the start of the process of the writing. . . .
