A Short Art Review: Dick Blick Studio Pencils

Originally published here https://wondersandmarvels-wonderfull.blogspot.com/2015/09/another-update-classes.html on this blog, this was done with Sharon's 12 recommended Prismacolors.  There's a new version below with Dick Blick pencils.

i've been finding a lot of reviewers who say they've heard this brand of colored pencils is good, but most have not personally tried them.
So recently i bought a 12 count package of Dick Blick  landscape assortment.
i've used them a few times, including on the Mucha coloring page, and a new rendition of Sharon Carlson's monarchs.
Here is my "bullet point" review of them:
  • Appearance beautiful
  • Feel every bit as good as my favorite Faber Castell Polychromos
  • Takes a point well, but doesn't keep it
  • So far, no trouble with breakage
  • The Landscape selection of colors is a very pleasing and useful one for me.
  • and yes, the price is less than similar art brand pencils.
There is a white but not a black. i know many artists do not use black, but many colored pencil artists do not use a separate white either. Personally, i occasionally use black to intensify, but like most cp whites i've found, this one is not strong enough for the rare times i do use it.
Overall, though, it's a very nice set of colors.

Best Colored Pencils.com and The Art Gear Guide are fantastic in their reviews https://www.bestcoloredpencils.com/blick-studio-colored-pencils-review/

And the coloring book was purchased from Barnes and Noble, but here's the publisher.
