Max's Medicaid Card

There is ONE place in my purse in which Max's Medicaid card belongs. . . .

Last fall, our healthcare providers adopted a new system. One of the things this meant of course was seeing our insurance cards again.
But it wasn't there when i tried to hand it over.  i dumped my purse then, and several times subsequently, but no card.
  i looked
around my desk.  No card.
As we explored the sheltered workshop option, of course they needed to see the card.  Our case manager gave me the essential number, but, while that helped a lot, still we needed the card.

CONTACT!

Finally last month i contacted FSSA about this.  (Easiest way i've EVER contacted any agency.  https://www.in.gov/fssa/2404.htm   Phone numbers, of course, but the online contact form got me a callback the next day!)
When someone from the office called me the next day, i was able to give her a couple info-bits so she could verify who we are.  She told me that the card should arrive in the next couple weeks, but probably a lot sooner.

Snow Days

Well.  The next week we had all that bad weather.  i'm told there were a couple of days that no mail was delivered. So the NEXT week i submitted another online form.
This time it took a couple of days to get a response, and it wasn't as useful since i was away from home & didn't have access to the required verifiers.
But she decided she could give me basic, as opposed to case-specific, information.  This was when i learned there were a couple no mail days.
She suggested i give it another 3 or 4 business days.

and you know what came next. . .

  Not exactly.
That evening, i was talking to MyGuy about the situation.  He reached across the table to Max's pile (yes, we all have one), and asked, "Is this it?"
He was holding a letter that said, "Here is your Medicaid card."
  Huh?
Yes, it's entirely appropriate that Max has charge of it, but we hadn't trained him.  For awhile he was keeping a copy of our family insurance card in his aluminawallet.*  But that was some time ago.
So, where is that new card?
i tried asking Max questions: Have you seen it?  What color is it?  Is it on the table, or somewhere in your room, or?  i did this in writing, and showed him the old card.

The old card

Yes, i did find it by this point..  The very next day.  i was looking for something else in a bag i hadn't used since maybe last January, and there it was.  It did not belong there.
So i have a card, and, like before, i'm sure the other is in a safe place.  But WHERE?
You'd think i'd learn.  Back when the kids were small, i left my calendar in a basket which i didn't check or use again until six months or so later.  Since doctor's offices give reminders, i didn't "lose" anything like that, but we totally missed the class at the zoo we'd signed up for.
So. We're going on the assumption that the new card has the same number as the old card.  His drugstore hasn't seemed to notice.  And someone, i think one of our service providers, said that FSSA usually doesn't change those numbers.  So far everyone who has wanted to see/copy the card has been fine with the old one, even though i gave a brief synopsis of what's been happening.

And next

It's on to more Housecleaning with Max

*As of today, that's about $14 for the alumawallet..
