The latest thing for Max
is working in the sheltered workshop. We're considering it as prevocational training; he really liked the $1.36 cent check he got for the first couple weeks' piecework. But he gets too stressed with all the other people, even though we deliberately chose the day with the lowest population. He can easily do the work, but sorta needs one on one to keep on it. And that is not something that the staff is equipped for. We may have to see what else we can find. The latest thing for me
is a date for the knee replacement and a(nother) new cane. There's the HurryCane folding model. i bought that a year or two ago when i thought i'd left the other one in a dark parking lot, 30 miles away. (Turned out it was in the trunk)
Anyway, it's handy, like when i had my colonscopy, so my guys didn't have to keep track of the regular one, and there's been a few times i used both of them.
A couple of months ago, one of Max's staff gave me a pretty cane that her family no longer needed.
This is the one i was using when i decided to go cane shopping. The tip had worn away, and it kept slipping out from under me. Back when i first began using this, a tip would last six months to a year.
When i saw there wasn't a new tip that looked like it would fit, i suddenly realized that this would be the thrid tip i've had for this pretty cane. Maybe something else was needed. . . .
So the new one is one of those with a kinda platform and four metal tips, as opposed to the rubbery ones that i've been using. Seems to help. i guess i've been depending on it more & more, even though i can walk sort of without it.
