Wordless Wednesday: Iris and Whirligigs

The dark iris are new this year.  Right now they're between blossomings. And i don't remember the whirlagigs being so common in all the time we've been here.

Apparently "whirligig" isn't a common term for these seed pods.  Wikipedia gives several names these seeds go by: key, wingnut, helicopter , whirlybird, whirligig, polynose, or a spinning jenny.
