What Don't You Understand About That?

This is a facsimile of a pile of drawings i remember doing as a very young child.

After drawing a stack maybe an inch high like this, it suddenly struck me,
  "Clouds are white.
Sky is blue.
i'm doing it ALL WRONG!"

  But is it that simple?

Are these clouds simply white in a blue sky?
This is a very complicated scene.  In some places, the sky is blue, and in others, it's very nearly white.  The clouds are white, dark grey, and, yes, blue and even pinkish.
Purple clouds are not uncommon at sunset or at night.

  Application: Art to Life

So, am i just playing around, uploading my photos to show them off?  Hardly.  i do hope you like them, but that's not my point.
i'm saying, in yet another way, that what we think we see is not necessarily what IS.
There are so many examples i could give here, that need to be spelled out, but likely anyone who needs to read them won't recognize themself.
Did someone snub you?  Maybe it wasn't a snub but you simply weren't noticed, as impossible as it is to believe.
"God hates divorce."  So you despise any divorced person?  Well, WHY does God hate divorce?  Take a look at the context - anyone remember context? He hates it because people are hurting.  We neet to not hurt each other.

Tendency to Simplification

Our brains don't want to deal with the small stuff.    In politics, in faith, we want things simple.
In these drawings, all the colors shown were there, but, if you had casually looked at the real tree, you wouldn't have seen them.  You would have seen brilliant fall color in the deepening evening, but not noticed the individual colors, especially the purples.

Yet, in the evening light, the purple was an honest representation of what was there.

What small, hidden details are we forgetting, that will make the picture whole and complete, if somewhat messier?

*This isn't my main point, but if you want, you can find that Scripture in Malachi 3.  You might also want to check out Psalm 15, about being a righteous person - but remember there's 11 things there, not just one.
