Life on the Computer Farm: Losing and Finding Files

On May 1 i took 19 photos of our/MyGuy's iris.
Today i thought i lost them all.

How It Happened

Our playroom computer
called duckpond
i was trying to organize my digital photo files.  i've learned that on duckpond, i can select multiple files and copy or move, using a dropdown menu off the Edit button. i get a window offering the choices on duckpond where files are stored, from which i may choose a subfile or select one of the offered ones.
When i tried to move the 19 iris photos, they disappeared.  They didn't go into the subfile i had prepared.  Valerie>Pictures>early 2012>6.spring flowers.
  i couldn't find them anywhere.
Later i lost a file i'd prepared for the PTA meeting tomorrow.
  Ditz.

How i Responded

i didn't panic over the PTA file because it would be easy to recreate - later (that's probably what i'd be doing now if i hadn't found it !), but the photos appeared to be simply GONE.
i like photos.  The iris were beautiful.

Found!

Fortunately, i later found both files.  The PTA file had gone into the general Valerie>Documents file, instead of Valerie>Documents>PTA.
And the photos were in Valerie>Documents>PTA.

At least they were still THERE.

Note to Self:

Be more careful.  Like the old-timers said, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  It's old-fashioned, but works in so many situations.
  Including on the Computer Farm.
