Reading About Temple Grandin's Childhood

Or maybe, as the negative commenters on BN say, more about mom raising Temple.
But isn't that the fascinating part?
Moms can, and do, get lost in momhood.  Mine did.  And we know, at least generally, what kids with autism look like.
How does a mom keep her selfhood and raise a successful kid?
Especially one with such needs.  And in a day where the default advice was
           Institutionalize & Forget.
Or maybe mom is the only one?  Can an empty pitcher fill the cup?
i've had this as a draft for a long time - actually, since i read the book shortly after i heard Eustacia Cutler speak.
The book is fantastic.  i've wanted to write about it, but i've not yet been able to gather the words to express what i want to say.
Just read it, okay?  Whether there's a person with autism in your life or not, just read it.
Originally tonight (4/16/13) i was looking for Eustacia Cutler's quote about Temple did not spring fully formed  like ~ which Greek goddess was it, who was "born" from Zeus's head?
Didn't find that, but here's someone who has had more success in capturing what i seem to have not been able to say.  She used  a bunch of my favorite E.C. quotes, too - that's IN ADDITION to using her own words.
  Check   it  out.
